Asia Pacific Meeting of ISMPP Explores Publication Equity Across the Region

Making APAC’s diverse voices heard was at the heart of the 2026 Asia Pacific Meeting of ISMPP, which brought medical publication professionals together in Hong Kong on 17 September. The meeting’s theme was, “One Region, Many Voices: Publication Equity in APAC.” Through presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and roundtables, attendees explored how to make regional evidence more visible and scientific communications more relevant to the people they are intended to reach.

Sessions examined the practical work behind audience-centered publication planning. Speakers discussed how differences in healthcare systems, languages, and information needs across APAC shape the way evidence is generated and shared. Member research presentations offered examples of local-language literature searches and new ways to share publication findings with audiences in the region.

A discussion on evidence generation considered how APAC data and local context can be better represented in global plans. Later, a scenario-based workshop invited attendees to work through challenges in aligning regional and global teams, using AI responsibly, and communicating scientific findings through accessible, locally relevant formats.

The conversation continued in roundtables focused on collaboration, effective practices, and professional growth for APAC publication leads. A networking reception gave attendees another opportunity to connect with peers and reflect on ideas from the day.

Across the meeting, one message stood out: publication equity depends on listening to regional expertise early and carrying that perspective through evidence planning, publication, and dissemination.
