Volunteers are at the heart of ISMPP. Across the Society, members contribute their expertise, ideas, and time to develop resources, advance good practice, explore emerging issues, and strengthen the medical publications and communications community.
Next week on October 14th, ISMPP will open its 2027 Volunteer Drive, offering members the opportunity to get involved in the work that will help shape ISMPP’s priorities and activities in the year ahead.
A new year of opportunities to contribute
The 2027 volunteer opportunities reflect both the foundations of ISMPP’s work and the evolving needs of our profession. Members will have opportunities to contribute their perspectives and expertise across areas including publication practice, ethics and standards, evidence and insights, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, patient engagement, professional collaboration, and member-focused communications.
Some opportunities will build on established ISMPP activities, while others will address newer areas of focus as the medical communications environment continues to evolve.
Whatever the area, ISMPP volunteers have something important in common: their work leads to tangible outcomes for the profession. Volunteer contributions can help shape practical tools and resources, generate new evidence and insights, develop educational content, explore emerging challenges, and connect ISMPP with the broader communities involved in communicating medical research.
Why volunteer?
Volunteering with ISMPP is also an opportunity to learn from colleagues with different experiences and perspectives. Committee and workstream participation brings together professionals from across companies, agencies, publishers, consultancies, geographic regions, career stages, and areas of expertise.
For members, that means an opportunity not only to contribute what you know, but also to broaden your perspective, build new professional relationships, and develop experience outside your day-to-day role.
You do not need to be a long-standing ISMPP volunteer to make a valuable contribution. We encourage members at different career stages and from across the global ISMPP community to explore the opportunities available.
